At YSC, we aim to help you prioritize your health and bring balance back to your life.
East Asian medicine is about putting the human touch back into medicine because health is a human issue, and an emotional one, too. Instead of using machines, we use our eyes, ears, and hands to discern what the root cause of your symptoms is. Our treatments are specifically tailored to your constitution and what is right for your body. We’re focused on the whole you, we’re not interested in trying to categorize you.
Young Choi, LAc is a Brooklyn-based, NCCAOM board certified East Asian medicine practitioner licensed in New York and New Jersey.
Growing up in a traditional Korean household, East Asian medicine has always been a huge part of her life ever since she was a child. Young’s first experience with acupuncture was when she was 5 years old, after she sprained her ankle during TaeKwonDo class taught by her father Grandmaster Choi. GM Choi also happened to be the one to provide her with care using acupuncture. Since then, Young has turned to East Asian medicine for any and all illnesses and health annoyances she’s dealt with.
Young comes from a long line of East Asian medicine practitioners and healers, and is dedicated to continuing the legacy that has been passed down to her.
Young graduated from Pacific College of Health and Sciences in New York City with a masters of science in traditional East Asian Medicine. Along with completing clinical rounds at PCHS, Young also interned at Housing Works working with underserved communities. She is incredibly passionate about helping people with all types of health disruptions. Her areas of focus include support for women's health concerns (like PCOS, fibroids, and hormonal imbalances), assisting those with complex chronic conditions, and managing physical pain symptoms.
Grandmaster Choi emigrated from Seoul, South Korea to the United States in 1973, after having fought in the Vietnam War.
His first TaeKwonDo Martial Arts school was in Virginia, soon followed by schools in Maryland and eventually New York. GM Choi is a 9th degree black belt – the highest level black belt in TaeKwonDo and HapKiDo. He was among the first grandmasters to introduce TaeKwonDo and HapKiDo to the United States. GM Choi is also a highly experienced East Asian medicine practitioner, as our medicine and martial arts tend to go hand in hand.
He has treated thousands of patients in New York and abroad where he has touched the lives of so many people, who are now living disease-free because of his treatments and incredible care and compassion.
There is no limit to his vast experience and knowledge when it comes to the human condition – With decades of experience, GM Choi has supported patients through a vast range of health challenges. His work includes providing supportive care for those with post-surgical conditions or undergoing cancer treatment; helping people manage complex pain like herniated discs; and offering support for neurological symptoms, fertility journeys, and much more. And he is beyond excited and proud to hand the reins to his daughter, Young.
